Admissions Policy
Discretion and Preference:
At the discretion of the Board of Directors and the Admission Committee of Cornerstone, the school grants preference to inner-city families with children exhibiting the greatest degree of economic need, and those who may receive the greatest benefit from the services available at Cornerstone – spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and/or physical.

Financial Participation of the Families Served:
Cornerstone shall require of parents or guardians, a financial commitment consistent with the school’s approve tuition schedule, which is income based. Families are expected to fulfill their financial commitments, or otherwise their individual role at Cornerstone will go before the Admissions committee for action. In considering these difficult situations, the Admissions Committee shall be sensitive to the personal circumstances, exhibiting biblical grace, and remaining ever prayerful for the impact of its decisions. The school does believe, however, that it has a serious responsibility to minister to the families served in the area of accountability with regard to their financial commitments.

Cornerstone’s goal is to serve those students who can be successful in a classroom setting with a teacher to student ratio of 1:14 in preschool, 1:16 in kindergarten and first grade, 1:18 in second thru fifth grades, and 1:20 in the sixth thru eighth grades. The school is not prepared to deliver services to children with significant special educational needs.

Administration of the Policy:
The Admissions Committee chaired by the Chief Academic Officer is responsible for administering the admissions policy. The Admissions Committee shall consist of no less than three members – such members are mutually approved by the principal and the Executive Director. The committee has the authority to determine if it is in the best interest of the school and the child to enroll a child or allow a child to remain at the school.
