SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools)/Advanced Education
Cornerstone Schools of Alabama completed the three-year process to become a fully accredited school with SACS in March 2009. This is a huge milestone for the school. To qualify for the accreditation, the school had to meet seven rigorous standards and address numerous indicators. Among the most critical are the requirements that the faculy be certified with the State Department of Education and that a school improvement plan, measured by benchmarks of yearly progress, be in place. Because of the accreditation, students can now compete in a wider range of extra-curricular competitions and qualify for the National Honors Society, and Cornerstone is eligible for new grants.
ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International)
The ACSI accreditation requires a school to meet SACS standards in addition to maintaining a spiritual life component. Each year our students take the Bible section of the SAT (Stanford Achievement Test). Students must also take a daily Bible class, attend chapel weekly, and follow the school's biblical principles. Teachers are required to participate in Bible studies and devotions.
